The Ultimate Testimony

If you were to sit in the gallery of a courtroom today, you would likely hear witnesses testifying under oath. One of the most fundamental goals of any court proceeding is to find out what actually happened, and one of the primary ways that goal is accomplished is through the testimony of witnesses— real people, sharing what they saw.

In 1 John chapter 5, the text tells us that there are actually witnesses who testify about Jesus. In fact, one of those witnesses is God the Father himself! Through the ultimate testimony given to us by the Father, the Spirit, the water and the blood, we can have a right knowledge of God and his perfect self expression in the person of Jesus. And the Bible is clear: knowing Jesus is the path to experiencing true life.
