Pressing on Toward the Goal
If you were to boil down the entire Christian life into a singular goal, what would it be? You could definitely use a text like the Great Commission to define our greatest goal as the mission that Jesus left his church to fulfill. But at an even more basic level, the goal of the Christ-follower is simply to become like Christ.
That is what Paul says is his ultimate goal that he is "pressing on" to attain in Philippians 3; and he is quick to tell us that he is not perfect, and hasn't gotten there yet, but he gives us the tools we need to shift our mindset so that day by day, we develop more and more into the character of Jesus.
In this message preached on New Year's Eve, Colby uses Paul's encouragement to the Philippian church to encourage us to continue pressing into the goal of Christlikeness as we enter in to this brand new season.
