Shine: The Book of Philippians - August 28, 2022

Philippians 1 contains some of the most amazing words of scripture in the entire Bible. One of the standout moments is when Paul says in verse 21, "For me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain."

These words are beautiful, but they take on a whole new weight when you consider that Paul was imprisoned and looking at the potential of his own execution. Even then, he maintains a perspective that seems completely foreign to us. Either way, he wins. Either he gets to be with Jesus, or he gets to walk further in the purpose that God has laid out for him.

Many of us don't see things that way. Many of us see our salvation as a finish line, but Paul sees it as a starting line. We are not saved from something, rather, we are saved for something.
